New Braunfels City Council Approves Hybrid Transportation Plan

New Braunfels City Council Approves Hybrid Transportation Plan

The Mayor’s directive to the City Planning Department last month to combine the Parkway Plan with the Outer Loop produced a plan called the Hybrid Plan. This Plan was approved by the City Council with a 6 to 1 vote Monday, March 12, 2012.

The new plan combines parts of the Outer Loop with the parkway concept. There will not be an I-35 mega freeway around the city. Instead this area will have more environmentally friendly scenic bypass roadways. [more]

Many reasons to favor Parkway Plan over Outer Loop Proposal

The beloved late State Representative, Edmund Kuempel, spoke for many of us after seeing a picture of 2nd Crossing on the Guadalupe River when he said, "That's as good as it gets in this State, that ain’t gonna happen."

It's Time to Stand Up and Be Heard!

City Council will hold a workshop Monday, February 13 at 4:30 PM in Council chambers to discuss two options for addressing the future transportation needs of New Braunfels and the County.

Partly in response to the outcry from those of us interested in protecting the Hill Country environment, including the Guadalupe River (particularly at 2nd crossing), the Planning Department worked with transportation experts to develop a plan that did not destroy natural habitats, the river, and the country-side. Our campground was established in 1987 and is located just south of the Second Crossing Bridge. The property was originally part of the KL Ranch, established by my Grandfather, Robert Bretzke, in 1897.

Our customers are primarily family groups and many return every year. When you operate a camping facility along the Guadalupe River, rain forecasts are not taken lightly and precautions are always taken. [more]
