On their half-acre of land in northwest Comal County, Lee Byrd and his family relish in the simple things provided by the peaceful country setting: riding bicycles, sitting outside talking and star gazing in evening.

Byrd, 44, purchased his property on Hoffman Lane, just west of Farm-to-Market 1102, to avoid noise from the city that he said would impede on his family's ability to enjoy the country atmosphere. That was 16 years ago, and Byrd admits that he knew the "city would one day come out my way." [more]

Proposed construction stirs strong reactions

When Judy Chantos pulled a glossy flyer out of her mailbox nearly two weeks ago, her stomach sank when she digested the contents: a map of the city and surrounding area encircled by a yellow band.

The mailer was sent by San Antonio-based consulting firm R.J. Rivera, which has been contracted by the Texas Department of Transportation to conduct a study for the possible construction of an outer loop around New Braunfels. [more]

NEW BRAUNFELS – Wednesday, June 27, 2007, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) held a second public meeting in a series of two identical public meetings regarding the New Braunfels Outer Loop Study. The first public meeting was held at Canyon High School, Monday, June 25, 2007 and was attended by 247 residents. The second public meeting was held at Hoffmann Lane Elementary School and was attended by more than 343 area residents. [more]

2nd outer loop meeting tonight

The second public meeting for the New Braunfels Outer Loop Study will take place at 6 p.m. at Hoffmann Lane Elementary School.

The first meeting, which primarily focused on the east side of Interstate 35, attracted nearly 300 residents from Comal and Guadalupe counties.

Wednesday's meeting will focus primarily on the possible construction of the project on the west side of I-35, although booths and information about the project on the east side of I-35 will available, too. [more]

The first of two public meetings on the New Braunfels Outer Loop Study drew mixed — and at times emotional — reactions from nearly 300 Comal and Guadalupe county residents Monday night.
