NEW BRAUNFELS — Managing some of the fastest growth in Texas is the focus of the campaigns in the Republican runoff for Precinct 1 Commissioner in Comal County between Tom Corbin and Donna Eccleston.

NEW BRAUNFELS — Texas Department of Transportation plans to build toll lanes on U.S. 281 through Comal County came as a surprise to county officials, who have ruled out participating in such a project.

"There will be no toll lanes in Comal County," County Commissioner Jack Dawson said. "They are dreaming. It's not going to happen." [more]

State has loop plan for New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS — Texas transportation officials will unveil a recommended corridor for an outer loop around the city at a public meeting Jan. 31, a full four months ahead of schedule.

State officials said property owners and local officials urged the department to finish the route study sooner because the area is developing so quickly that in another four months there may be new subdivisions planned that would block the corridor planned for the road. [more]

NEW BRAUNFELS — Comal County officials have backed away from plans to form a Regional Mobility Authority to build toll roads.

Recent projections from the Texas Department of Transportation show revenue generated by the tolls would fall far short of the cost to build the projects under consideration, said Comal County Judge Danny Scheel. [more]

Comal officials envision tolls down the road

New Braunfels — There could be toll roads in Comal County's future.

County Judge Danny Scheel said Thursday that in the coming weeks he plans to propose forming a Regional Mobility Authority, which would have the power to issue revenue bonds to fund road construction.

The bonds would be repaid from tolls paid by drivers who use the roads. [more]
