About 90 people attended the first public meeting in New Braunfels as part of the effort to create a new metropolitan planning organization (MPO) in the New Braunfels / Seguin area.
As per federal law, an MPO is required for all cities and their extra territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) that have 50,000 population. That includes us. Federal transportation funds will be tied to this MPO requirement. New Braunfels and Seguin are actively working to form a regional MPO. The San Antonio area has an MPO with 40 plus jurisdictions, including the city of Garden Ridge. [more]
