SATTLER – It was standing-room only Wednesday at Community Resource & Recreation Center, as impassioned residents lobbied to save a scenic portion of the Guadalupe River from becoming a stop on the proposed New Braunfels Outer Loop (NBOL).
Around 60 people crammed into the small meeting room to voice environmental concerns about what the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has dubbed section "B" of the proposed outer loop – a cross-section that includes a bridge that would be built near the second crossing at River Road, and that arches
almost entirely over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone. [more]
NEW BRAUNFELS – More than 300 ranchers, farmers, homeowners, politicians, retirees and business owners filled the Civic Center Thursday night to find out the next step in the planning of a 40-mile highway around the city.

Those affected by the changes made to the proposed 40-mile Outer Loop met at Canyon High School on Wednesday night for a meeting that was often contentious. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct an open house to provide information regarding the New Braunfels Outer Loop Study.
The purpose of this open house is to present the recommended corridor for the proposed outer loop.
TxDOT will present the recommendation to the City of New Braunfels, City of Schertz, Comal and Guadalupe Counties in February 2008. These entities will determine if the recommended route will be adopted into their respective Major Thoroughfare Plans (MTP). [more]

CIBOLO — In June, the Texas Department of Transportation and a group of consultants unveiled preliminary plans for a proposed 40-mile loop around portions of Comal and Guadalupe counties.
During the first two public meetings about the New Braunfels Outer Loop, more than 500 residents and concerned property owners were shown a map of the city and surrounding area encircled by a yellow band. The yellow band represented a two-to-five mile wide study area, but it only gave property owners a vague idea of where the loop might be constructed. No specific corridors or possible constraints had yet been identified. [more]
